Our Story
Our Story
Mercy Nairobi Foundation was formed in 2021 out of a desire to see healthy Christian partnerships between Christians in Kenya and Christians in the USA. Often when people think of developing countries, they only think of poverty and a need for charity. Although many challenges do exist in a country like Kenya, Mercy Nairobi Foundation sees an opportunity to step into the challenges and partner with people to bring about long-lasting Gospel-driven change.
We believe we can leverage and steward resources and God’s people for gospel impact. We believe in fostering healthy Christian partnerships that result in sustainable and reproducible gospel endeavours and are convinced that indigenous believers are best suited to come up with local solutions to meet local needs.
Meet The Founders
From the Waruhiu – “The gospel compels us all to take the light of the gospel to all parts of our society with both the proclamation of the gospel and works of compassion. Jesus said “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” In Isaiah 1:17 the Lord tells us to “learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. We are just trying with the help of the Holy Spirit to play our role in God’s redemptive purpose”
Allan and M’Lynn Waruhiu got married in 2013 in Kenya. They have three kids, Anaiya, Zeek, and Ezra. In 2014 they moved to Dallas, Texas, for Allan to attend seminary at Criswell College. In 2019 they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where Allan served as a students Director at Mercy Charlotte. It’s at Mercy Charlotte that the vision to plant a church that plants other churches and engage in works of compassion became clear and in 2021 with the support of their church and friends, they formed Mercy Nairobi Foundation.
Allan is currently serving as the Lead Pastor of Mercy Nairobi Church and M’Lynn serves as the Director of Mercy House
Statement of Faith
Our Statement of Faith
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God through which God has disclosed his character, his will, and his plan of redemption.
We believe in only one God who has existed eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, his sinless life, His miracles, his death as an atonement for sin through the shedding of blood, his bodily resurrection, his ascension to heaven, and his personal return in power and glory.
We believe that human beings are sinful, guilty, and lost without Christ and that salvation from the consequences of sin comes only through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross where he bore our sins and died on our behalf.
We believe that sinners are made right before God only by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit whose presence enables believers to live by faith and grow in spiritual maturity.
We believe in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead for both salvation and final judgment.
This brief statement of faith does not cover the full extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and authoritative Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
